    Betty Anne Clark Betty Anne Clark, 19, daughter of Howard F. Clark, of Ridley Park, Pa., and formerly of this city, died at her home, in Ridley Park. Saturday morning. Besides her father, she is survived by her grandfather, Elmer E. Rathmell, of this city. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'elock-this-efternoon in Wildwood Chapel, in this city.

    Clark Pearl F. Clark; 69, of Wildman Arms Apartments, Lansdowne, a retired -juvenile' probation officer,- died Saturday at her home. Mrs. Clark, the former Pearl Freeman, was born in Dover, Del., and was a former resident of Upper Darby's Drexel Hill area. She retired four years ago after 27 years as a Delaware County juvenile probation officer in Media. She was the widbw of Howard F. Clark and a member of Drexel Hill'United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. Services will' he at 9 tonight at the Spencer T. Videon Funeral Home, Garrett Road and Shadeland Ave., Upper Darby. Graveside services will" be at noon Tuesday in* Lakeside Methodist Cemetery,- Dover, Del. Calling hours will'be after 7 tonight.

    ISAAC FLEMING was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, December 8, 1817, and emigrated to the United States in the year 1840, locating in Centre county, Pennsylvania, where for fourteen years he operated a woolen factory. He married Margaret Ann Stradley, a native of McHenry township, Lycoming county. They lived in Centre and Clinton counties until 1863, when they moved to Larry’s Creek, Piatt township, Lycoming county, remaining there until 1866, and moving thence to Hep-burn township, where Mr. Fleming was foreman of a woolen factory until 1880. At this time he settled on a farm, where he now resides. He is a Republican in politics and taken an active interest in the success of his party, and with his wife belongs to the Methodist Episcopal church. To their union were born nine children: John W., who is principal of the Stevens school building of Williamsport; W. H., who now resides in Missouri; Samuel S., Hudson R., and Edward S., who are residents of Williamsport; Wilson I., ex-burgess of Bellefonte; Dr. J. F.; Eugene E., and Carrie E., wife of Elmer Rathmell.

    Simon Spalding (1742-1814) served as lieutenant under Capt.
    Samuel Ransom in the Jersey campaign and commanded a
    company in Sullivan's expedition, 1779. He served to the
    close of the war and was a member of the Cincinnati, He
    was born in Plainfield, Conn., removed to Wyoming, 1771 ;
    settled in Sheshequin, Pa., 1783, where he died.

    Spalding operated a store and tavern in the building still standing at 1 York Avenue, Towanda which was
    built in 1812. ** This was where Ebenezer Clark worked, as this was on the Post Road which serviced a stagecoach line. Thew house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.


    Towanda Lodge, No. 290, K. of P., was organized in 1871, largely through the instrumentality of H. S. Clark. At its organization the principal officers were: H. S. Clark, V. P.; 1-1. J. Madill, C. C.; G. H. Horton, V. C.; A. D. Harding, K. of R. S. On the establishment of the Order in the county Mr. Clark was appointed District Deputy G. C., and hold the office for two years. The deputies who have succeeded him have been 1-1. J. Madill, 0. A. Black, B. F. Crossley, B. Benedict, and J. N. Califf, the present incumbent.

    Mountain Cliff Lodge No. 393, Knights of Pythias, was instituted April 8, 1873, at Barclay, Bradford county, by District Deputy Grand Chancellor H.S. Clark, of Towanda, Pa.

    Wilbur F. Lathrop was admitted to the bar of Luzerne county,
    Pa., March 18, 1875. He is the grandson of Spencer Lathrop,
    who was born in Connecticut in 1789, whose wife w^as Clara
    Tupper, who was born in New York in 1790. The father of W.
    F. Lathrop was Oliver Lathrop, who was born January 5, 18 16,
    in Springville, Susquehanna county, Pa. The wife of Oliver La-
    throp was Amelia L. Ladd, a native of New Albany, Bradford
    county, Pa., where she was born October 10, 18 19. She was the
    daughter of Charles W. Ladd, a native of Tolland county. Conn.
    He removed to Albany township, Bradford county, Pa., early in
    the century, and was the first postmaster of Albany, receiving
    his appointment in 1820. His wife was Philinda Alden, a native
    of Massachusetts, where she was born in 1795. W. F. Lathrop
    was born April 13, 1849, at Hillsdale, Michigan. He was edu-
    cated in the public schools of Susquehanna county, Pa., and at
    the state normal school at Mansfield, Pa. He read law with Lit-
    tles & Blakeslee, at Montrose, Pa., and was admitted to the bar
    of Susquehanna county November 11, 1872. Mr. Lathrop is an
    unmarried man and now resides at Carbondale, Pa.
