  • Notes 
    • Lester was the fourth child of Orson and Caroline (Nutting) Potter. On September 12, 1859 he married Clarissa Clark in Bangor, New York. He enlisted in the 142nd New York Volunteer Infantry in 1862, was severely injured at Drewry's Bluff, VA and was discharged in 1865.
      After the war, he moved his family to Iowa, where he and Clarissa raised six children - Ova, Orson, Lindon, Linda, Carly and Lena. (From notes on the Find-a Grave site)
