1. | Albert Henry Lathrop 23 May 1899 Toledo, Lucas Co., OH (son of George Wilson Lathrop and Caroline Giesel); 11 Feb 1977Arden, NC. Notes: Albert went through the schools at Toledo, Ohio, graduating from Scott High School in 1916. He attended Case School of Applied Science (now Case-Western Reserve University) at Cleveland, Ohio. He worked in Cleveland and Toledo during the years 1919-21 and spent the winter of 1922-23 in Tucson, Arizona. Albert moved to North Carolina in 1923 and was on a construction job in Waterville, NC, for two years. For 35 years, Albert was with American Enka Corporation at Enka, NC, a suburb of Asheville. 2. | George Wilson Lathrop 9 Sep 1866 Lucas County, OH (son of James Jerome Lathrop and Jane Edmonds); 7 Sep 1936. Notes: George Wilson Lathrop went through the public schools and graduated from high school in Richfield Township, Ohio. He lived for a number of adolescent years with a Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chulip north of Berkey, Ohio. George taught school for a while, and around 1890 moved to Toledo and started work in the Toledo Post Office. This began a career of more than 25 years which concluded with his service as Postmaster from 1920-1927. As an outside activity, George worked independently in real estate and the construction of residences in the west end of Toledo. Following retirement from the post office, George established the construction firm of George W. Lathrop and Sons, which as The Lathrop Company carries down to the present as one of Ohio's large contracting firms. George Caroline Giesel 26 Sep 1894. Caroline 29 Oct 1868. 4. | James Jerome Lathrop 30 Jun 1836 Richfield Township, Lucas Co., OH (son of Reverand Lucian Bonaparte Lathrop and Pamelia Cleveland); 10 Jan 1910OH. Notes: James seems to have been the second of the Lathrops born in Ohio after the removal from New York State. He enlisted May 2, 1864, in 130 Ohio National Guard, Company G and served until honorably discharged on September 22, 1864. Tradition has it that he worked as an engineer on the railroad between Toledo and Adrian, Michigan, which passed through Sylvania and was the first railroad constructed west of the Appalachians. James owned and operated a farm for several years in Richfield Township. He sold the farm in 1900 and moved to Sylvania, where he lived until his death in 1910. James Jane Edmonds 31 Dec 1865.
