      Elizabeth Steele (McCorkle) Bowman was born about August 1781 in Rowan County, North Carolina, the daughter of Samuel Eusebius McCorkle (1746–1811) and Margaret (Gillespie) McCorkle (ca 1756–ca 1823).

      She was married to Reverend James H Bowman (1765-1842).

      Elizabeth was as about 53 years old when she died in 1834 in Davidson County, Tennessee. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee.
